Discovery Group Volunteer Opportunities

DISCOVERY GROUP GUIDE
A Discovery Group Guide meets for about an hour and a half to two hours with his or her group members on a regular basis (usually weekly or bi-weekly) in either their home or rotating between member’s homes.  Their role is to encourage and support all members in the five purposes of our church – connect, grow, serve, reach and honor.  This is done by studying God’s word, providing accountability to each other, doing Community Projects together, inviting others into your group, and honoring God by seeking His will for your life.  Ultimately, our Discovery Groups are all about discovering purpose driven lives in community.  We are not looking for great “leaders” in the traditional sense of the word.  We are looking for people who are excited about growing and helping others to grow.  Ideally, our groups are places where everyone finds their voice, their passion, their purpose – not just a place where a group sits and listens to a “leader” and then goes home.  A Discovery Guide facilitates the conversation, keeps it moving, and models transparency and honesty.  Many of our groups are using video-based studies which make it even easier on the Discovery Guides.  With these tools, leading a group is not much different than going to the movies with friends and then having conversation about the movie.  Are you ready to grow in ways that you cannot possibly imagine?  Are you excited about finding God’s purpose for your life and helping others to fine their purpose?  Then – go ahead, step out in faith, take your “next step” and email Cheryl Shireman at cheryls@dayspringchurch.com

DISCOVERY GROUP COACH
A Discovery Group Coach supports and encourages up to five Discovery Group Guides as they help group members to discover God’s purpose for their lives.  This is done by maintaining contact with the Guides in a variety of ways (emails, phone, meeting for coffee, etc.)  When a Discovery Guide has a problem or question, you will be their contact.  As the groups grow in their spirituality and commitment, you will be a part of that process!  This is a wonderful opportunity to truly touch the lives of many people in the Dayspring family.  One way that you will do that is by meeting with each of your groups once per year during their scheduled meeting time to give your support to that group.  You will report to the Director of Small Groups (Cheryl Shireman).  In addition, there will be a monthly meeting (at the church) with the other Coaches and the Director.  Approximate required time per week is about 2 – 3 hours.  We do not want Coaches with a “if you have a problem give me a call,” mentality.  We want Coaches who are excited about helping others to grow – men and women who feel honored to be used by God in this process.  We are looking for men and women who have had small group experience (either as a leader or member), and are passionate about small group ministry.  If this describes you, take your “next step” and email Cheryl Shireman at cheryls@dayspringchurch.com
